Healthcare
Southerly Nurse Call is a complete system — room, ward and head end — designed to AS 3811:2026, with reporting, clinical messaging and room sensing built in. It installs new, or runs over the legacy system a hospital already owns so the move happens ward by ward. Built by a team that has kept Victorian hospital call systems running since 2014.
The system
One system from the bedside to the phone in a nurse's pocket — with displays, clinical messaging, room sensing and reporting built in, not bolted on. Designed to AS 3811:2026.
Every part of the system is a product in its own right, with a datasheet, a status and a model code. Nothing here is a concept drawing: status pills say what's shipping, what's in pilot and what's still on the bench.
The head end: live calls and faults, response-time reports, display feeds, messaging and room-sensing integrations, uptime reporting, BACnet feed.
PoE ward controller: 8 relays, 8 supervised inputs, RS-485, clinical messaging over TAP, Quiet Mode for silent nights, OTA firmware.
+8 relays and +8 inputs on an Edge Node's RS-485 bus. Up to 8 per node — 16/16 through 72/72.
The same +8/+8 over one PoE Ethernet cable — anywhere on the ward LAN, leaving the node's RS-485 free.
Call, cancel, reassurance and presence on RS-485. Also fits the common legacy moulded housing.
Mains latching relay for bed and over-door lights, driven from the call point with feedback and current sense.
USB programming tool for legacy call points and modules — keeps 20-year-old installations maintainable during a migration.
Ceiling radar + thermal sensor that raises falls, bed exits and inactivity as nurse calls — no camera in the room. Supplied per room with messaging and reporting.
Monthly availability report per site — gateway, link and controller-feed layers — for SLA evidence.
Response times by ward, shift and call type; repeat callers; faults with timestamps. Monthly uptime evidence for SLA meetings.
Native TAP integration with Olinqua and Ascom, heartbeat-supervised, so calls, faults and isolation events land on DECT and smartphones.
Quiet Mode moves routine call tones from the corridor to the pocket during quiet hours — supervised, logged, and fail-safe. Quiet nights without losing a call.
Run Southerly over the existing controller first, replace rooms as budget allows. Legacy displays and modules stay programmable throughout.
MQTT and BACnet feeds, documented protocols, firmware you can update yourself. No licence keys that die when a vendor does.
